so bad. so good.

before i say anything more--forgive me my punctuation [or lack thereof]---i currently have no shift keys; truly, i'm not trying to pull an ee cummings on you. i like upper-case letters and [at] signs. a lot.

i also like that my poem ''my lake'' has been selected by claudia emerson to be included in best new poets 2010. wootwoot [would use, can't use, an exclamation point]. and a huge congrats to the alums i've studied with at northern michigan university who have each---in their own, lasting way---impacted my work [and probably my life]---eric smith, sarah wangler, brandi george, and adam houle [all great poets, and i'm so happy to be included in an anthology with each of them]. beyond these nmu alum, i'm excited to be included with luke johnson [great friend and poet who i met at sewanee] and dawn lonsinger [who i have the pleasure of working with here at the u of u in slc].

beyond this good news, there's too much news to update. first of all, i'm a bad, bad blogger [mostly absent]. the cross-country move turned into a slight shit-show when the movers didn't show and i had to rent a u-haul at the last minute, then the cat hid in the wall [yes, really, IN THE WALL \CAPS LOCK STILL WORKS, SEE\] and the truck wasn't large enough for all of my belongings, and then we got to a dirty house in slc.

in the end, though, it's all working out. i'm really glad to be here...the mountains are gorgeous, the weather's been lovely, our house is in a great location and it's spacious [i can do a cartwheel in my office...i HAVE an office], and i haven't been lost driving in this great, great city yet. -in due time, i'm sure.-

oh, and the only poem i've written this summer, which was here previously---''ode to the bottle''---will appear in the spring 2011 issue of poet lore. that's exciting, too.

okay, now that i've written this punctuationless [and thereby annoying] post, i'll resume normal posting as i can, especially once my keyboard is replaced later this week.
